When we bought a boat... this is what I envisioned When we bought a boat... this is what I envisioned. Bikinis... relaxing... cocktails on the dock. Swipe for the reality. The reality is that the boat is hard work. It might be one of the harder things I’ve done in my life... restoration of a vintage boat. My svelte lifestyle of just a few years ago has turned into dusty, grimmy, and often gross tasks. I’ve traded glitter and photo shoots for sand paper and shoving food down quickly so we can get to the next project. It’s glamorous some of the time... but it’s back breaking work most of the time. I see why most people don’t this... I mean I spent my anniversary in tears because we have so many projects going at the same time and I’ve been covered in sweat and God knows what for 8 days straight. Now, excuse me while I wrap up my writing assignment from the roof of my vintage yacht (glamorous) so I can help the Sir sand the hatch and steps so we can stain them and actually walk into our boat instead of breaking our ankles jumping into it. I’ve spent the better part of two days working o I’ve spent the better part of two days working on my life book. That’s right... two fucking days dedicating myself to evolving and growing 12 distinct areas of my life. ⁣ ⁣ Growing a beautiful life has little to do with what you can and can’t afford... where you get to go... who you get to do it all with... and what you win at the end. ⁣ ⁣ This is the work... I found as a coach.... that many of my clients struggled with. You know why.... it’s fucking hard. This is hard fucking work because you’re responsible for clarifying, defining, picking apart, and cultivating something you are unfamiliar with. ⁣ ⁣ What’s worse... is that after the book is complete... you’re then tasked with actually doing the work. Making the commitment and the plan for consistency. ⁣ ⁣ I do this life book work about every year to two years depending on the life season I’m in... in other words... two years for a static season when I’m quiet and contemplative.... and one year when I’m blooming out of every pour of my body. ⁣ ⁣ I’m in bloom... which means I have insane goals that scare the ever loving shit out of me... and don’t seem the least bit possible. Do I care? Fuck no I don’t care. I’m rather impressed that I give this much a damn about myself beyond the small box I (we) tend to place ourselves in.
